Looking Forward:

A New Infill Dwelling

We are thrilled to announce that this week we received Planning Approval for a new infill dwelling in an Oxfordshire Village. The project site is situated on a vacant area of land at the entrance to a family-run farm at the edge of the village.

In anticipation of retirement, the owners expressed their desire to downsize from their current Listed Farmhouse while remaining on the family farm. Nestled between listed cottages, the Farmhouse, and Stables, the infill dwelling has been meticulously designed to seamlessly integrate into the site.

The design of the traditional stone cottage aims to strike a balance between the site's opportunities and contextual constraints, while also meeting the clients’ requirements and modern living standards.

The building's general articulation maintains clean, simple forms with traditional spans and roof pitches, and openings strategically placed in response to the site, enhancing the continuity of the street scene as you enter the farmstead.

The modest two-bedroom cottage, adorned with traditional stonework, dormer windows, and a clay-tiled roof, incorporates modern features, including green technologies, while ensuring spacious open-plan living with strong connections to the outdoor spaces.

Benefiting from dual aspects, the dwelling offers stunning views across the village and into the open landscape beyond.

A heartfelt thanks to Jamie of JP Heritage Consultants, who provided contextual historical analysis and impact assessment to accompany the application.

We are overjoyed to have obtained permission, enabling the owners to spend their retirement on the family farm, surrounded by family and the land they have cherished and worked on for years.
